Erik Kulu

Erik Kulu is the founder of Factories in Space (www.factoriesinspace.com) database tracking the emerging commercial in-space economy, in-space manufacturing and microgravity commercialization fields since 2018. As the first large public source and preceding many now popular trends, the work has led to numerous publications and opportunities.

Early in his career, he was part of the core team who built and operated the first Estonian satellite ESTCube-1. Since then, Erik has worked as a senior space systems engineer at Kepler Communications in Toronto and at AAC Clyde Space in Scotland developing and launching nano- and microsatellites.

His other databases include Nanosats Database (www.nanosats.eu) covering nanosatellites since 2014 and NewSpace index (www.newspace.im) covering small launchers and commercial satellite constellations since 2016.

Currently, Erik is pursuing space-based solar power as potentially one of the largest space industries in the future and kick-starter for the new space economy with many links to ISAM (in-space servicing, assembly and manufacturing) including semiconductors.
